The Chief Executive Officer, Cambridge University Press, Mr. Peter Phillips, says the local production of textbooks for primary and secondary pupils by the firm is to improve the quality of teaching and learning in Nigeria.
The move, Phillips added, would contribute to the growth of the country’s publishing industry.
He stated this at the recent inauguration of some academic titles to pre-university students in Lagos.
Phillips, who noted that quality textbooks were central to success rate, added that the books were compliant to the stipulations of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council.
He said, “Cambridge has decades of experience supporting ministries of education all over the world with training and quality control for the development of their own learning and assessment materials. The aim of this programme is to give every learner in Nigeria the opportunity to share in the gold-standard tradition of contemporary relevance of the University of Cambridge.”
